چکیده

Diabetic angiopathy is a generalised systemic disease of the vascular system which afflicts both distribution vessels (diabetic macroangiopathy) and microcirculation (diabetic microangiopathy). The diabetic angiopathy, as well as other angiostenotic diseases (obliterations, obstructions, occlusions) result in one common consequence--ischaemia. This study is based on an analysis of a large group of patients (71,662 angiologic consultant examinations which took place during the 25-year period of the existence of the Comenius University Faculty Hospital). The author indicates that the clinical course of angio-organic ischaemic syndromes determined by diabetic angiopathy is multiform, remarkably severe and unfavourable. The author has suggested the term "X hypersyndrome" referring to cases with simultaneous occurrence of various pathophysiologic abnormalities and clinical units which finally increase the risk of origin and development of diabetic angiopathy. A Review on Clinical Manifestation and Treatment Regimens of UTI in Diabetic Patients

The pervasiveness of urinary tract infections (UTIs) with their clinical manifestations in patients with diabetes mellitus has escalated amidst the past decade or so, as myriad predisposing factors contribute to its occurrence. Although the causative agent of UTI is Escherichia coli, the etiopathogenesis can be traced back to glycosuria in the renal parenchymal region. This has precipitated pye...

Peroxynitrite-induced nitration of cyclooxygenase-2 and inducible nitric oxide synthase promotes their binding in diabetic angiopathy.

Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) play crucial roles in diabetic angiopathy. In vivo, however, the following facts remain unknown: whether COX-2 and iNOS bind, how peroxynitrite-induced nitration of COX-2 and iNOS affects their binding if they do bind and what effects of this mechanism contribute to diabetic angiopathy. This study focused on the issues above. D...

Prevalence of Diabetes and Incidence of Angiopathy in Patients with Chronic Viral Liver Disease

Patients with chronic liver disease (CLD) often develops glucose intolerance. We explored the prevalence of diabetes mellitus in viral CLD, and analyzed factors profoundly affecting the diabetic angiopathies. 229 CLD patients (124 chronic hepatitis and 105 liver cirrhosis) entered the study. The diagnosis of diabetes was made with the criteria by World Health Organization. Laboratory investigat...

Redox Status of β2GPI in Different Stages of Diabetic Angiopathy

We explored the redox status of beta 2 glycoprotein I (β2GPI) in different stages of diabetic angiopathy. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) had a significantly lower proportion of reduced β2GPI as compared to healthy controls (p < 0.05). There was a trend that the mild coronal atherosclerosis heart disease (CAD) had higher proportion of reduced β2GPI than non-CAD and severe-CAD groups, however wi...
